Eureka College was founded by abolitionists from Kentucky who were members of a religious movement known as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and were committed to providing young people a broad, liberal education. These pioneers believed in an education infused with values as a basis for leadership. Chartered by the Illinois Legislature in 1855, Eureka was the first college in the state and third in the nation to admit men and women on an equal basis. Eureka College was designated by the National Park Service as a Campus Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places in June 2010.

Run With Reagan

Eureka College's Annual Run with Reagan on Saturday, October 14, 2023

Join Eureka College as we celebrate our Homecoming by running (or walking) in Ronald Reagan's footsteps on Eureka's historic campus! Race proceeds will benefit the Ronald W. Reagan Society of Eureka College and the Eureka College Red Devil XC & Distance team. The Ronald W. Reagan Society makes a tremendous impact on the students in the leadership program, the museum and peace garden, the research center, the lectures series, the conferences—all designed to share the leadership lessons of Ronald Reagan.

5K Run: $25
5K Run - Eureka College Students: $10
Virtual 5K/1 Mile Walk: $25
1 Mile Run/Walk - untimed: $25
1 Mile Run/Walk - untimed, Eureka College Students: $10
Kids Dash (12 & under): $10

All Participants Receive a Race T-Shirt & Free Pancake Breakfast. Guests of participants may purchase breakfast for $6.25 + tax.

This year's race proceeds will go to the Ronald W. Reagan Society and to the Eureka College "Red Devil XC & Distance" team.

7:00 a.m. – Registration
8:00 a.m. – 400m or 1 Mile Kids Dash
8:15 a.m. – 5K Race & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

Parking: Burgess East gravel parking lot, Burgess West parking lot, or the Melick Library Parking Lot.

The Route: The starting line will be at the corner of Reagan Drive and Burgess Street. Runners continue on Burgess, east on James Street, south on Dickinson Drive and west on Reagan Drive. This square will be completed three times. Finish on College Avenue in front of the Dickinson Commons, where the pancake breakfast will be held.
