What will I gain from joining the First Generation program?

MENTORING:  WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER!

  • Each first-year, first generation student will have the opportunity to select their Peer Mentor who will serve as a front line representative for the First Generation Program and works closely with up to four first-year students. Peer Mentors are responsible for meeting several times each semester with these students to mentor them and will also assist the Coordinators of the First Generation Program in planning year-long activities. After your first year on campus, become a peer mentor and help incoming students find their way at Eureka  College.

IMPROVED SKILLSET:  WE WANT YOU TO SUCCEED AFTER COLLEGE!

  • Learn networking and communication skills, explore career opportunities, and participate in community service initiatives. First Generation Program events also may include:  formal dinners, study sessions, city trips, attending the movies or professional sporting events (NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB, etc.), sculpture walks and theatre productions.

PARENTS:  WE HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU!

  • During orientation you will receive information about different facets of the College: FERPA, the Role of Advisors, Academic Status and Progress, Financial Aid, Resources Available at the Learning Center, Athletic Eligibility Rules, and important programs run by the Office of Student Life.
