Eureka College is proud to announce the launch of the “Color Us Hopeful: Eureka College Coloring Book Program"
Eureka College is proud to announce the launch of the “Color Us Hopeful: Eureka College Coloring Book Program,” made possible through a generous grant received by the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation.
Last year, Eureka College received a grant from the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation (IPCF) for the “Color Us Hopeful: Eureka College Coloring Book Program.” The IPCF is a grant-making public charity dedicated to improving the lives of people in their four county service area (McLean, DeWitt, Livingston, and Logan counties). Together they bring financial resources to individuals, families, and businesses to support effective nonprofits in the community.
Eureka College designed the project to bring joy and creativity to children in need, along with the essential food supplies Midwest Food Bank provides. The Color Us Hopeful program features adventurous children’s stories written by Professor Zeke Jarvis and vibrant illustrations drawn by students in their Eureka College art course. Professor Willie designed the layout of the coloring book, printing 1,000 books. Each book and a pack of crayons were assembled into cellophane bags, donated by Monica Coleman, director of foundation relations and grant writing at Eureka College.
The finished packs were delivered and donated to the Midwest Food Bank by Professors Jarvis and Wille. The packets will be distributed to families in need through their Hope Packs.
“This initiative underscores the importance of holistic support for children,” says Professor Zeke Jarvis. “We know that it is important for children to get the food they need, and we know that it is important for them to be able to have fun as well. Hopefully, these coloring books help give the children something to enjoy along with the food from the Midwest Food Bank.”
Eureka College is grateful for the grant and teamwork with the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation and Midwest Food Bank. We are immensely proud of the students and faculty who displayed their talents to contribute to this heartwarming project.
