Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Eureka College is proceeding with extreme caution and taking action to protect the health, safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and campus community.
For the past several weeks, Eureka College’s leadership and Crisis Management Teams have established plans and closely monitored the rapidly escalating situation by following the information provided by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control, as well as conferring with local health professionals.
Although we are fortunate that there have been no reported cases amongst EC students, faculty and staff, it has become clear that extraordinary caution is required to minimize the possibility of an outbreak.
Our actions at this time include:
Eureka College is extending its spring break until Monday, March 23, when all classes will resume online-only or through alternative delivery methods, as specified by your professors. This will continue through April 13 and will be re-evaluated as the coronavirus (COVID-19) threat continues to develop.
Campus will remain open for faculty and staff to continue to work during this time.
While the campus and offices will remain open, some areas, such as the athletic facilities in the Reagan Athletic Center, will be inaccessible during this time.
All students who are on campus are strongly encouraged to return to their permanent residence or living space until further notice. However, if circumstances require students to return or remain on campus, they should contact the Office of Student Life at email@example.com.
Limited dining services will be available.
All on- and off-campus activities and events, including athletics, are suspended through April 13.
All non-essential college-sponsored travel has been suspended through April 13.
We understand that these actions may create a litany of challenges and inconveniences; however, we must be proactive understanding that this rapidly changing situation requires an abundance of caution. Thus, our decisions must be thoughtful and reflect a balance of prudence, preparation and consideration for the safety of us all.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Office of Student Life at (309) 467-6419.
