My research interests include Native American Literature, nature and environmental writing, ecocriticism, poetry and poetics.
I enjoy teaching a range of classes, including Non-Western literature; creative writing classes in poetry, nature writing, and creative non-fiction; grammar and structure of English; introduction to literary studies.
Books: The Encyclopedia of Native American Literatures, The Encyclopedia of Feminist Literature.
Poetry: published in such journals as Southern Poetry Review, Appalachian Heritage, Appalachian Journal.
Present and past professional memberships include the Modern Language Society, Mid-west MLA, ASLE—Association for the Study of Literature and Environment, Appalachian Studies Association.
I am a University of Illinois-trained Master Naturalist Intern; I am an active member of Eureka Christian Church.
