A Note From Home.....
As the seasons change, so does our focus.
What a difference a day will make. Just yesterday my husband, Curt and I were hiking around Lake Eureka enjoying the beautiful fall foliage and soaking up the beauty of this quaint town. As I write this note to you, the weather has changed to cold, windy rain and snow and the leaves are now on the slippery pavement. I am so glad we didn't take yesterday for granted. Now I need to look forward and embrace what the next season holds...the cozy warmth of home and hearth with the holiday season to enjoy with family and friends.
Here on campus, we are shifting gears too. Students have returned from fall break having two-thirds of the semester behind them. The Alumni/Development Office event focus has shifted from Homecoming to gearing up for the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, a pivotal event in world history, marking the falling of the Iron Curtain. Three decades ago, the Wall fell.... practically overnight, ushering in a new era.
This is an event that is to be celebrated! We are excited to welcome back former Reagan Society Director, John Morris to share his insights into this historic event through stories of special guests who have been Reagan Society visitors in the last decade. In addition, we will hear from special guest, Dr. Octavian Gabor, who will share perspectives derived from his Romanian heritage. I hope you will join us for this celebration and savor the importance of this historic event. Freedom should always be celebrated and never taken for granted.
